We need another and a wiser
and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals…

We patronize them for their incompleteness,
for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves.

And therein we err and err greatly.
For the animal shall not be measured by man.

In a world older and more complete than ours,
they move finished and complete,
gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained,
living by voices we shall never hear.

They are not brethren; they are not underlings;

they are other nations,
caught with ourselves in the net of life and time,
fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.

VETERINARY WELLNESS PROGRAMS

"The inferior doctor treats the sick;
The mediocre doctor averts impending illness;
The superior doctor keeps his patients well."

                     Chinese Proverb

Not exactly the viewpoint taken by most medical practitioners or medical consumers in America today, is it?

The allure of today's conventional medical approach is that it is very sophisticated and progressive - lots of high-tech diagnostic capabilities, lots of new and innovative medicines, lots of hype and glamour, lots of ways to manage the sick.

Today's medical approach has evolved into a very good system of medically managing the chronically ill.

There is very little emphasis placed on wellness by today's medical community. In fact, wellness seems to have become an arcane concept that is largely ignored by the medicopharmaceutical industry in America today.

AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH

Thanks to the Holistic movement there is now a grass roots awareness that medicine can be different, that it does not have to be crisis motivated or disease driven.

To that end, For The Animals is a veterinary practice dedicated to the concept of Wellness.

In this practice the emphasis is to return normalcy to the life of our patients and to keep them from being forever dependent on medicine.

Our approach is simple:
  • supply a varied diet of species appropriate fresh and raw foods,
  • remove as many noxious toxins (physical and emotional as well as chemical) from our patient's world as is possible (including such things as unnecessary or over-dosed conventional medicines, vaccines, systemic flea control, environmental contamination in the form of lawn and household chemicals, etc),
  • correct nutritional and functional imbalances through the judicious use of nutraceuticals and supplements,
  • assess the core level of disease and treat the true cause of disease (and not merely the resultant symptoms of disease) with Homeopathy.
The goal of this practice is to tailor Wellness Programs for our patients with the expectation that their life will be lived without the encumbrances of chronic disease.
